As an artist and historian, I seek to understand the relationship between identity and our pasts through themes of nostalgia, memory, and relationships. My fascination with the past stems from deep family roots encompassing both family history and present compassionate relationships with one another. Utilizing mediums such as watercolor, chalk pastel, and charcoal, my art seeks to honor where I have come from in searching for how and why I define myself the way I do by exploring what's more valuable to me. I invite viewers of my pieces to reflect on cherished people, places, mementos, and memories of their past and ask themselves this same question: what do I let define me?
